Microneedling in Atlanta, GA
Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that uses your body’s healing process. Betsy Horton, MD, of Omega MedSpa offers microneedling treatments for residents in Atlanta, Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Newnan, Eagles Landing, Hampton, LaGrange, and surrounding communities in Georgia.
What is Microneedling?
Stimulating the development of collagen and elastin may help give your skin a refreshed appearance. Microneedling is a cosmetic technique that creates tiny microinjuries in the skin. Your body heals the injuries by producing more elastin and collagen.
Benefits of Microneedling
Dr. Horton uses the advanced SkinPen™ microneedling device for the treatments. Most men and women find the treatment to be painless and relaxing, but this depends on your tolerance of the procedure and pain. Downtime is minimal. SkinPen™ may provide benefits that cannot be achieved with microneedling tools that are rolled across the skin.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction, is performed with SkinPen™, a minimally-invasive handheld tool that is designed with a series of very small needles. The tool is positioned perpendicular to the skin and a gentle pressure allows the needles to penetrate the skin. The design allows our aestheticians to work on the most delicate skin, such as the area around the nose and mouth.
Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?
SkinPen™ microneedling can be performed on all skin types and colors. The needles can be adjusted for depth, so SkinPen™ can be used on the face, décolletage and neck.
What to Expect from Microneedling
We will apply a topical numbing agent to your skin prior to the microneedling procedure. The aesthetician uses a vertical movement to set the tool on your skin and penetrate the skin with the needles. The tool is then moved to the next section of the treatment area.
How Long is the Recovery After a Microneedling Treatment?
You may have some mild redness and swelling for the first two days. Your skin may have a rejuvenated appearance after the treatment, and full results may take several weeks. We may recommend several treatments to achieve the desired improvements in your skin.
