Acne Treatments

Acne is a common skin problem that requires specialized treatment to improve skin health and reduce break outs. Betsy Horton, MD, of Omega MedSpa offers acne  treatments for residents in Atlanta, Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Newnan, Eagles Landing, Hampton, LaGrange, and surrounding communities in Georgia.

What are acne treatments?

Acne is a common skin problem that affects patients of all ages, including children, adolescents and adults. The blemishes that appear on the surface of your skin are the end results of a series of problems within the pores. First, dead skin cells and dirt collect inside the hair follicle. Next, a special oil, known as sebum, that occurs naturally in the skin collects in the follicle. This may be due to the pore being clogged or someone’s skin may produce too much sebum. The combination of dead skin cells, dirt and high levels of sebum create a perfect environment for a special type of bacteria that inflames the hair follicle.

The most common areas affected by acne are the back, face, chest and shoulders. Acne may involve:

  • Blackheads and whiteheads (non-inflammatory)
  • Cysts, papules, nodules and pustules (inflammatory)
  • Acne scars

Benefits of acne treatments

Omega MedSpa offers several acne treatments that improve skin health and appearance, such as:

  • Chemical peels
  • Laser skin resurfacing
  • Facials
  • Scar reduction

How do acne treatments work?

Acne treatments work by remedying one or more of the causes of acne, such as:

  • Removing dirt, impurities and dead skin cells
  • Reducing sebum levels in the pores
  • Reducing inflammation

Am I a candidate for acne treatments?

If you are troubled by acne and had limited results with other methods, our acne treatments may be right for you.

What to expect from acne treatments

Our acne treatments take less than one hour. You may see a temporary increase in the number of blemishes, but this will resolve over the following weeks.

How long is the recovery after acne treatments?

Resolving your acne may take a few weeks or months. You should continue to use skin care products that minimize the likelihood of future break outs.
